The Fisheries Museum on Hjertøya island was founded in 1948 and shows a small fishing village and local coastal culture from 1850 and onwards.

The guided tour gives you a great impression of the life and work on the Romsdal coast. You will also visit a boat hall showing various types of boats which have been used until recently. An "åttring" is an eight oar rowing boat which represents a continous boat builing tradition from pre-Viking Age.
