The central location in the Romsdal fjord, combined with good natural harbours, has lead to a rich history. Veøya means «the holy island» and there are traces of pre-Christian cults and with Norways oldest proven Christian graves dated to the 9th century, an 11th-century medieval stone church, a vicarage from 1752 and beautiful cultural landscape. Veøya is one of the official sites along the coastal pilgrim path "Kystpilegrimsleia". Read more at www.pilegrimsleden.no.
